So, if you know Stacy or myself, you know that we’re total foodies and lovers of all sorts of kitchen gadgets. We are also into anything diy and love to craft. Because of this, we love home gadgets and toys in general. Now that she and I have been married to our husbands for a combined 20 years, we’ve bought, tried, discarded and saved oodles and oodles of kitchen and house toys. We have some that are popular registry items (I love my ice cream maker!) and some, like the Toddy that I’ll be chatting about today, that aren’t. We’ve also used gadgets that we’ve loved and those, well, let’s just say the love affair didn’t last as long as our marriages. So, with all of this experience, we hope to impart a bit of insight that may help you decide what to include and exclude on your registry. Without further delay, let’s get started, shall we?
I got a Toddy for Mother’s Day this year and it immediately became my most favorite kitchen toys ever! If you’re a coffee drinker, you will want to have one of these bad boys on your registry. And if you’re a cold coffee drinker like me, then you’ll most definitely want one. Not only does the Toddy make the best tasting coffee, but it’s so easy to use and it stays good in your refrigerator for up to two weeks.
The Toddy uses a cold-press brewing system and the process is super easy. I tend to start the brewing process at night before I go to bed. I just pour some water in, pour some coffee in, pour some more water and coffee in and then top it off with a bit more water and throw it in the fridge overnight. You brew it for 12 hours and then let it drip into the decanter. Easy peasy.
Even better than it being easy to make is the taste of the coffee it brews. I am not lying when I tell you it’s incredible. Prior to using the Toddy, I’d get various flavored coffees, but never really ever tasted the flavor. It would always just taste like coffee, milk and sugar. After I got my Toddy, I got a couple of yummy flavors…blackberry cobbler and tiramisu…and I could actually taste the blackberry and tiramisu. The flavors were out of this world. I add some milk, some sweetener (usually honey or agave), a handful of ice cubes and then I enjoy some incredibly delicious coffee. Oh and if you’re more of a hot coffee drinker like my husband, you just heat it up. So, so easy.
So, so far the Toddy has been super easy to use and makes incredible coffee. But the final element that made me fall in love was the fact that it makes a concentrate. You get a whole decanter of coffee, but only use a couple of ounces at a time. This means that it lasts forever (okay, not forever, but 1-2 weeks for me) and it’s ready in your refrigerator just waiting for you to enjoy it’s yummy goodness. :) pour, stir, drink…a process I can handle in the morning.
I think the verdict is pretty obvious here…a definite do! If you want to check the Toddy out for yourself, head on over here to amazon and take a look-see. Oh and if you want to add one to your registry, it looks like Amazon does their own registry. I did not know that, did you? That opens up a whole world of registry goodie possibilities.
If you end up getting a Toddy, you’ll have to stop by and let us know what you think.
